There are plans underway to retrieve Toby's records somehow and put them somewhere where hard disk failure cant get at them. ---- Hehehe... I made some calculus, and here are some "visions" about turn 2: STRIKER, DROIDEKA, LIRKAS "Striker is in bad shape... They told him life in the Arena was short and brutal, but he always thought that this was for "the other bots". How can a huge Tyrannosaurux Rex ever taste defeat ?!? Well, they surely lied. Striker knows the pain he feels is not due to "processing errors", but to real damage sustained. These "other" bots are nasty, really. They fight for their "life" like they had only one... Well, they have, but that doesn't count. Now what ? there's this little puny weird droid, the one that moves by rolling, what was his name, already ??? Yeah, Droidsomething... Striker doesn't get it: this bot should have been crushed long ago by his massive foot. Who would have ever guessed that he did have lasers ??? Not only that, but he should have been named "rolling glue"... still in the back, just waiting a false step to pierce yet again the skin of a poor and innocent dinosaur." "Droideka is still rolling, and doesn't give a damn about damage. There is a huge T-Rex in front of him, and Droideka always wondered how a T-Rex steak looks. Shields are somehow failing, and this is bad, but not too bad: Droideka still rolls. Sure, Droideka "feels" a disturbance in the force (weird for a bot) because of a dustbin threat nearby (Lirk. "gonk, gonk !"), and has considered the possibility of being the first bot fragged in this arena, due to possible crossfire from the T-Rex and the Dustbin. Well, it ain't gonna happen. Death to them all !!!" "Lirkas is happy. He always thought that there was discrimination among bots. "being a dustbin" surely didn't help. Last round he was outraged because of the lack of turn right cards (when all the fight was on his right), but now he feels confident. The ultra mega conspiracy that Toby and ALL the other bots did devise (surely no-one is innocent) against him didn't work. Lirkas managed to turn right twice last round, thus getting 2 shots at passing bots. Now his already super-boosted ego is bursting like a ripe pumpkin. Lirkas still doesn't understand why he cannot fly, but he did manage to have this pair of ultra-new-state-of-the-art Crab Legs, and he's confident that he'll be able to wreak some more havoc this round." So Strk is in bad position. His chances of running away from the clutches of Drdk are slim. Really slim. The only move cards he has are the backward card and the move 1 card (unfortunately locked in 5th position). Well, moving backward should put him up on the conveyor belt. That is, if Drdk doesn't move 2 first and shove him, putting Strk's back against the wall (nullifying Strk's attempt). If this happens, then Strk would take 4 laser hits (1 more and he's dead), and then move forward (last phase) and wrap on row 1... where an evil Lirk might just be waiting by for the final hit. So moving backward is a little too risky. Strk best option would be to turn left (facing east and Drdk), shooting Drdk if he shoves him (exchange laser fire), then turn left again, and then backward (on row 1, wrap), u-turn, and move 1 on the conveyor belt. With this in mind, Strk is sure to stay alive. He could take 0 hits or 4: a) if Drdk shoves him 1st phase, then Strk will take 1 hit 1st phase, 1 hit 2nd phase, and 1 hit in thrd and 4th phase only if Lirk is in row 1 facing west. But then, if Drdk shoves Strk first phase, Drdk leaves its back open to a possible back attack from Lirkas (who can just move via Crab Legs behind him - wrap -). So usually Drdk should move backward 1st phase, and thus Strk should not take a hit from him. b) Drdk moves 1 1st phase: worst move. Strk can escape (wrap) by moving backward. Lirk can move backward. Then 2nd phase Lirk wrap via Crab Legs before Drdk can move backward (this would have saved his life). So Lirk wraps and get shot by Drdk (because Drdk shoved Lirk, causing him to wrap), but next 2 turns Drdk gets hit by 2 by Lirk (who moves forward 3 and 1, shoving back Drdk). c) Drdk moves backward (wrap). Now this is funny. Strk turns around west and find no-one (Lirk doesn't wrap to shoot him and get shot). Lirk moves backward to the northeastern corner. 2nd phase Strk can either follow game plan 1 (turn left again to wrap next phase) or follow plan 2 if he thinks Drdk will still be moving backward, which is... u-turn !!! (and shoot Drdk in the back) Then left again and move 1 to wrap. Lirk has the most movement possibilities, also thanks to Crab Legs. In no time at all he can wrap and shoot Strk or Drdk. But the real problem is Drdk: Lirk doesn't want to wrap for nothing. Especially if the result is getting shot in the back by Drdk. The 2 move backward cards from Drdk are just a pain for Lirk. There is no way, if Drdk moves twice backward in the first 2 phases, for Lirkas to be able to wrap behind Drdk before turn 5 (if Drdk plays smart). Conclusion ? Striker will play like this: L-1726 L-1326 B-4426 U-3826 1-5226 1st phase move: prevent a possible shove of Drdk (against a possible backward 1st phase of Strk) while returning fire to Drdk or Lirk if they are on row 13 shooting him. 2nd phase move: Drdk shouldn't be east of Strk, so no hits should be taken, but Lirkas might be there, so this move is to use asap the 3rd phase one. 3rd phase move: backward, wrap on row 1, escape from the "wrap back" move of Drdk (coming back shooting all his lasers to whoever is in row 13) 4th and 5th move: get into the conveyor belt. Droideka should play like this: B-4701 1-5701 B-4601 1-6201 2-7001 1st phase: moving forward is asking to get shot by Lirk in the back, so backward is the only option (wrap). 2nd phase: no use of moving backward again (risk shooting by Strk). Strk should be rotating, so Strk is no more facing east. So Drdk will wrap again, shooting Strk. If Lirk just happens to move via Crab Legs (wrapping at the same place of Drdk), then it's all a question of card priority. If Lirk's is higher, then Drdk shoves and shoots Lirk, if not, Drdk is shoved to row 12 and doesn't get shot by anyone. Which suits Drdk well. 3rd phase: backwards (wrap). Drdk needs to stay behind. Lirk wrapping is still a threat, so Drdk has to move forward at the last possible moment. 4th phase: wrap back. Strk shouldn't be there anymore, but maybe Lirk is. 5th phase: well, no choice about that one. Lirkas WILL play like this: B-4423 L-1323 L-1723 U-3823 1-5423 (R-2723 with Crab Legs) 1st phase: moving forward is stupid, rotating also (risks shots from C-64), and backward is perfect to get into position (for hitting Drdk). 2nd phase: turn left. in this case, hits Drdk if he's in the southeastern corner (where he should be). 3rd phase: turn left again. Lirk needs to be facing west AND needs to keep the only rotate right card he has for the last phase. 4th phase: u-turn. Now Lirk faces west. 5th phase: wrap on row 13 and hits 100% sure Drdk in the back. Lirk is still undamaged. TREADMOVER, C-64, JUNKPILE. Since they are relatively undamaged, their move is everybody's guess. However: C-64 cannot really move a lot and cannot ignore Lirk's threat. So i think he'll turn around and stay north for most of the time to return possible fire from Lirkas. Junkpile just cannot ignore the possible mayhem it can do to C-64. Moving 3 and shoving C-64 into pit/crusher zone is just too funny to pass by. Treadmover is in the center, and not happy about that. He can just cross his fingers and hope that he doesn't move the wrong way. Hitting Ziph seems the most easy and less dangerous solution. ZIPH: He's in big trouble. There's a big BBC mine nearby ("MYU !!! MYU !!!"), which moves a lot, more than Ziph (if BBC uses 19 as code), and there is Tmov just south. This is getting ugly. Also, Ziph just cannot move backward (there's the missile) 1st phase. Rotating is suicidal (also shot by Tmov) because if the BBC rotates south, the BBC can move first with the move 2 card and frag Ziph. So Ziph can only move forward 1. Then all is vague. What will the BBC mine do ? Well, I don't know. Moving into the center of the board might be a good idea (there are more bots there). But Ziph is also a tempting target. Time will tell. POOR-Y-GONE: Ininfluential this round. Might score a hit or 2 to Drdk or to bots in the center of the board if he's lucky. ---- This should be the current map for the round. You didn't tell anything about the missile. If it's still there, then it should be (if I'm not wrong) in g7n.
